Mid July 2025 updates - ACT NOW!
This issue:
Key survey deadline approaching. Please respond to SAFE QUIET LAKES by July 21
Yoga any one? Looking to bring in a great instructor
Call for new board members
Reminder of key dates, summer events, annual meeting etc
This issue we focus on a few key dates and activities that may be of interest. We will cover more macro and longer term topics in our Civic Holiday edition in preparation for the Annual Meeting.
That will include ongoing work on assured longer term water access and news on the possible- perhaps likely- widening of the hydro corridor. This latter topic flares up every decade, but with all the talk of national interest projects is back and perhaps more real. Also work underway against invasive species. A key benefit of our GBA membership is learning of issues earlier and having access to their political clout and resources. If we have a concern on Blackstone, there has already probably been some work done on it by the GBA.
One piece of good news: In response to considerable public outcry, the funding of the Lake Partner water testing was affirmed by the Ontario government. Here is another opportunity to make sure our voice is heard.
2025 Your Lake Your Views – survey deadline July 21
We are proud to be participating in the 2025 “Your Lakes, Your Views” survey with Safe Quiet Lakes. This survey helps shape boating regulations that affect us: Transport Canada has drafted new boat noise and wakes legislation based on the views expressed by participants in the 2021 survey. It runs every four years and we’re looking forward to building your concerns and ideas into BLCA plans and positions.
By taking this 10-minute survey, you'll be part of a conversation about the future of our lakes and the issues that matter most.
Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts. The survey closes on July 21, 2025, so don't wait - take the survey now and share it with your friends and family networks: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TSLPY8Q.
Please take a moment today to share your views. It is important to hear from everyone! Please pass this along to your friends, family members, and neighbours.
The responses will help to understand the priorities of our members, what people value from their cottage experience, how they use the water and their boating activity concerns.
Results will be shared this fall. Please participate. Your voice is important!
Yoga on Blackstone?
Interested in dock yoga?
We are looking to host a weekend morning practice here at Blackstone, guided by one of the instructors from Balance on the Bay. I’ve been enjoying their sessions in Parry Sound - they run an accessible class that is good for stretch and flexibility.
If you are keen, please respond with your preferred day - Saturday or Sunday. We'll amortize the session cost ($225) over the number of participants, so 10 or so would be ideal. The Cooley/Henhoeffer dock is our proposed location.

Phragmites continues to be concern on the bay and our volunteers are tackling an infestation on the road.. More information at AGM.
